Buddhist Meditation in Milwaukee
Buddhism and Meditation in Milwaukee
Welcome to meditateinmilwaukee.org, the online home of Vajrayana Buddhist Center's Milwaukee branch. Vajrayana Center was founded by Ven. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in 1997 as a non-profit organization and a member of the New Kadampa Tradition - International Kadampa Buddhist Union. Classes in Buddhism and meditation are currently offered on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30pm at Unitarian Church - North, 13800 N. Port Washington Rd., Mequon, WI 53097.
Our Resident Teacher is Kelsang Lektso, an American Buddhist nun and close disciple of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, who has been studying and practicing Kadampa Buddhism under Geshe Kelsang's guidance since 1999. Prior to becoming the Resident Teacher, Kelsang Lektso served VBC for many years as the Administrative Director and the Education Program Coordinator. Lektso presents Buddha's teachings in a clear, heartfelt, and practical way.
Our Thursday evening General Program (GP) classes are open to all, and there is no attendance requirement. You can attend as frequently or infrequently as you like. These classes are designed to give a clear and practical introduction to Buddhist Meditation. All GP classes have guided meditations and offer Buddha's wisdom advice for overcoming our problems and increasing our happiness in everyday life.
